Orange Shirt Day

Monday, September 30th is Orange Shirt Day.
This is a day where we talk about our First Nations People and the Truth and Reconciliation work that is being done in our country.  We started this conversation this week and read the book Shi-shi-etko by Nicola. We will be sharing more stories in class and talking about concepts around Truth and Reconciliation.
If your child does not have an orange shirt, they are invited to wear one of their favorite shirts as the reality behind orange shirt day is that a favorite shirt of a First Nations child was taken away from her when she entered the residential school system.
